PFF College calls for Jermaine Burton to have breakout year in 2022

After winning the College Football Playoff National Championship in 2021 with Georgia, Jermaine Burton wanted a chance to improve his draft stock by making the move to Alabama.

The situation works well for Burton, who will provide another target for Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young. The duo of Young and Burton should produce high numbers, which will increase Burton’s draft stock.

Pro Football Focus College also sees this, as they list Burton as the top receiver to “breakout” in 2022.

On3’s Nikki Chavanelle says that Burton could have a season similar to the one that Jameson Williams had for Alabama following his transfer from Ohio State in 2021.

Catching passes from the reigning Heisman candidate is an easy way for Burton to get his own name in the mix for the nation’s top award. The transfer hauled in 53 receptions for 901 yards and eight touchdowns in his two seasons with the Bulldogs. Williams had 79 catches for 1,572 yards in 2021, his lone season playing under Nick Saban.

Burton was the no. 77 overall prospects from the 2020 recruiting class, and the no. 16 overall receiver from Calabasas, Calif. In the 2022 transfer portal rankings, Burton was second on the list behind Pitt wide receiver Jordan Addison, who is also receiving attention from Alabama.
