GoS: Renewal, Sporting CP case and PSG interest

Rafael Leao’s exploits in recent weeks have helped Milan into a position where they need four points from their final two games to win the Scudetto, but now the aim is to secure him long-term.

La Gazzetta dello Sport recalls how Leao took the game into his own hands away against Hellas Verona as he twice went on a superb individual run before squaring to Sandro Tonali on both occasions, and now the Portuguese forward badly wants a firs trophy with Milan.

These are particularly tense days also from a personal point of view for Leao because in less than a week, the Milan Court will rule on the alleged irregularities in the player’s transfer to Lille, with his former club Sporting CP asking for compensation.

Over €16m could be owed and this has led to suggestions that renewal talks could be affected, but Rafa has always made it clear that he wants to stay at Milan. Today he earns €1.5m net per season, and to extend the agreement it will be necessary to at least triple this figure like it happened for Theo Hernandez.

Leao has great admirers in Europe with PSG chief among them, so the target of the management is to get him to sign a five-year or at least a four-year deal, though we will likely have to wait until the end of the season for things to accelerate.
