PLYMOUTH, Wash. — Internet troubles and power outages were observed in Benton County and Umatilla County on Wednesday morning after a semi-truck accident downed power lines that services communities in both Oregon and Washington.
According to a social media alert from Trooper Chris Thorson, officials from the Washington State Patrol (WSP) investigated a collision between two semi-trucks at the intersection of WA-14 & S Plymouth Rd around 5:00 am on May 11, 2022.
Though Thorson was able to confirm that at least one person was injured as a result of this accident, it’s unclear how many people were involved or whether their injuries were life-threatening.

However, he was able to confirm that the vehicles crashed into power lines and internet lines that service parts of Benton County and Umatilla County. As a result, customers in Plymouth lost power, and others in Hermiston lost internet access for an undetermined amount of time.
The Benton PUD Outage Map shows does not show any outages as of 1:30 pm on Wednesday afternoon, meaning service has likely been restored to all customers in the southern communities of Benton County. It’s unclear whether internet access has been restored to customers in Umatilla County.
