Diddy ‘demanded’ Travis Scott to perform at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards

Travis Scott will make his first televised performance since the Astroworld tragedy in November at the Billboard Music Awards, and it appears to be Diddy’s doing.

Diddy (born Sean Combs) hosts the 2022 Billboard Music Awards, airing Sunday, May 15 on NBC, from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Shortly after Scott’s performance was announced on Monday, Diddy, 52, took to Instagram with a video revealing that he “demanded” Scott to perform.

Hello, how are you, happy Monday everyone. I have a big breaking news, this just came in. For the Billboard Music Awards, I applied, I applied, I said my brother Travis Scott had to perform,’ Diddy began.

Diddy added that he is the show’s host and executive producer and that “Travis Scott has to act.”

He also spoke about insisting that Scott perform during an interview with Revolt Black News, where he stressed that Scott should be pardoned.

‘There will be no cancellations on my watch. Love is about forgiveness… that’s why it was important to me that Travis Scott act. It’s going to be a great night,’ he said.

While Scott’s appearance at the Billboard Music Awards will be his first televised performance since the Astroworld tragedy, he was back performing over the weekend.

He performed alongside rapper Quavo from Migos at the Miami Grand Prix weekend at E11Even Miami.

He also performed at a private event outside of Coachella last month.

Scott has kept a relatively low profile since his Nov. 5 Astroworld performance in his hometown of Houston turned deadly.

A massive crowd at NRG Park in Houston led to the deaths of eight people that night and two more deaths in hospital days later.

25 people were hospitalized with initial reports stating that there were up to 300 injured, although new court documents claim nearly 5,000 people were injured.

Lawyers acting as counsel for the plaintiffs filed court documents stating that there were actually 732 claims for ‘injuries requiring extensive medical treatment’, along with ‘1,649 linked to less extensive treatment and 2,540 claims for injuries where severity is still under review, ‘equals more than 4,900 total injuries.
