Tacko Fall returns to TD Garden for Celtics-Bucks Game 5

A hard-to-miss visitor was in attendance at TD Garden prior to Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinals on Wednesday night.

Tacko Fall, the 7-foot-6 fan favorite who spent parts of two seasons with the Boston Celtics, was in the house chatting it up with several former teammates ahead of the pivotal game between the C’s and the Milwaukee Bucks with the best-of -seven series tied at 2-2.

Fall could be seen with Jayson Tatum, Grant Williams and Brad Stevens, among others, on the floor during warmups.

Fall, 26, averaged 2.7 points over 26 games for the Celtics over the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons and also appeared in 29 games for Boston’s G-League affiliate in Maine.

The Celtics didn’t bring him back for the 2021-22 season, however, instead allowing Fall to sign a two-way deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers. But he appeared in only 11 NBA games for the Cavs, averaging just 1.1 points, before he was waived and re-assigned to Cleveland’s G-League affiliate.

Despite such a limited role with the Celtics, Fall was and remains beloved in the city. He even served as a guest conductor for the Boston Pops during a holiday concert in 2019. With starting center Robert Williams III out of the lineup again in Game 5, are we sure Fall couldn’t at least pick up six fouls for the Celtics as they try and contain Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo?
