Terror Train Remake from Tubi Premieres Halloween 2022! [Teaser Trailer]

Neonthe company behind Oscar-winner parasite and upcoming Crimes of the Futurejust landed US rights to Mother’s Instinct.

The psychological thriller will star Academy Award winners Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway.

Per dead line, Mother’s Instinct is based on the novel Derriere la Haine by Barbara Abel and an English-language remake of the 2018 critically acclaimed Belgium movie Duelles director Olivier Masset-Depasse. Masset-Depasse is also set to helm this remake, which is set to begin principal photography later this month.

The film is “set in the early ’60s. It follows best friends and neighbors Alice (Chastain) and Celine (Hathaway), who live an idyllic traditional lifestyle with manicured lawns, successful husbands, and sons of the same age. Life’s perfect harmony is suddenly shattered after a tragic accident. Guilt, suspicion, and paranoia combine to unravel their sisterly bond, and a psychological battle of wills begins as the maternal instinct reveals its darker side.”

It sounds like the idyllic suburban life will get shattered in this period thriller. Neon has been on a hot streak in recent years for genre films, too, with titles like Titan, In the Earth, Possessor, The Lodgeand more.

Writer sarah conradt (50 States of Fright) penned the adaptation, and Hathaway and Chastain will serve as producers. Previously, both actresses appeared on screen in Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi feature interstellar.

On behalf of Freckle Films, Chastain and Kelly Carmichael told Deadline: “Neon is a true filmmaker’s haven. Their unique vision and distinctive campaigns are a reflection of their mission to bring the best and most diverse cinematic experience to US audiences. Mother’s Instinct will be in excellent hands with Tom and the team.”

The thriller is also produced by paul nelson (Under My Skin, Pod Generation) at Mosaic and Jacques-Henri Bronckart (Duelles, The Nun).

Stay tuned for more details on the project.
